Diamonds International Cozumel supports DIF Cozumel. This organization is involved in many noteworthy charity projects in Cozumel such as elderly care, medical assistance, food assistance, child welfare, and more. We are proud to donate $5,000 Pesos each month to the school breakfast and lunch program. DI Cozumel also donated $81,000 Pesos of clothing after Hurricane Wilma. Over 5,000 items were distributed to poor and needy families in Cozumel.
CENDY1, a division of DIF Cozumel, was in dire need of AC units for their facility which houses children who range in age from a few months to three years. DI donated AC units for the entire building. The ceremony was attended by DIF personnel, DI executives and Luisa Prieto Muller, the wife of the mayaor of Cozumel and current president of DIF Cozumel.
Recently, DI launched a new project with DIF Cozumel called “Healthy Breakfast”. Mexico has a fair amount of children who suffer from obesity and DIF with the support of DI is sponsoring healthy breakfasts for local schools. DI is also distributiing DIF bookmarks in their stores and all proceeds will go towards this project.
The Cozumel Red Cross provides vital services to maintain the health and safety of the island’s residents and visitors. They serve the community 24/7 with emergency response teams, medical services, lifeguards, first aid training, health education, and disaster preparation and relief. DI Cozumel donates money or jewelry for their annual fund raiser event.
In April 2007, the Angel Fundacion (Angel Foundation) was created by Diamonds International executives. The purpose of the foundation is to collect a voluntary donation of $10 Pesos every 15 days from employees. This fund helps defray costs involved in health care such as surgery, medicine, laboratory tests, consultations, physiologists and medications for employees who are ill. Since its inception, over 20 people have benefited from the foundation. Diamonds International Cozumel also donates to the foundation when funds are needed.
This annual event is held to celebrate the Cozumel Fire Department – the brave men and women who put their lives at risk to save us from possible harm and death. Every year, Diamonds International Cozumel donates gifts to the fire department to help celebrate this special day.
Diamonds International is a proud sponsor for the Miss Independence Event. Every year it’s celebrated in September, and it’s a part of the Mexican Independence celebration.
Diamonds International is very involved in promoting and supporting sport teams in Cozumel. Diamonds International Cozumel donated over $27,000 Pesos for the installation of grass in the new Taxi Syndicate Football Field. Recently, the Karate State Championship was held in Cozumel and DI had the honor of participating with the first place trophy.
Journey to a Cure – Support the Fight against Breast Cancer. Diamonds International joined in the battle against breast cancer when it launched a new pendant to promote breast cancer awareness. The one-of-kind creation is called "Linie" in honor of Irene Panoff's late sister, who lost her battle against breast cancer at the young age of 35. Five percent of gross sales are donated to the Jackson Memorial Foundation and the UM/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center for breast cancer treatment and research. Download the PDF
