Lend-A-Hand Project in Aruba

Jule 21, 2014. Diamonds International employees started the week showcasing their finest attribute: Teamwork. As proud participants of the third Lend-A-Hand Project in Aruba. 17 employees of Diamonds International together with teachers and members of the parents committee donated their time to help Anglo Kleuterschool, located in Madiki, Oranjestad.

The team gave the property a make-over by painting all the classroom doors in bright colors, numbering every classroom, uplifting the playground area, repainting the school logo, and designing and installing the school name at the entrance. They also organized and installed wooden shelves in the library and warehouse, and helped install a new TV in the video room. The Lend-A-Hand crew met their biggest challenge at the sandbox, in order for this area of the schoolyard to be used they needed to install a metal fence around the perimeter of the 50 sq metre sandbox, a great task, with the final fence panels secured into place as the sun set. Thanks to teamwork and dedication to the project, the children will have a safe and secure sandbox to play in when they return to school.

It is very important to express gratitude to the parents of the children that came up with the money for materials. General Manager William Daly expressed “We are very proud to be able to assist in the community, the school got a well-deserved make-over and once again our employees showed their amazing team-spirit and selflessness to put their time and efforts into making a difference for others, and a big thankyou to the school, teachers and members of the local community who joined us in completing this wonderful project” Diamonds International will continue with more projects over the summer, if you have a project that could benefit from the Lend-A-Hand team contact aruba@shopdi.com, or call 588-0443. Lend-A-Hand Project in Aruba

June 21, 2014. Diamonds International employees were proud participants in the second Lend-A-Hand Project in Aruba. The DI team donated their time to help renovate the library of the Maria Regina Basisschool in San Nicolaas. The team helped clean, paint and improve what was before an abandoned classroom, using their own carpenters to build and install new tables and bookshelves, leaving behind a beautiful new library. No corner was left untouched as the team worked hard through the day to complete the library. Sorting out the books and painting an inspiring mural as well for the kids.

"Our company feels very strongly about embracing our local communities and supporting our island wherever we can. The true hero's of these projects are our employees who work with passion and show a beautiful team spirit to come together and get the job done. We are very proud of the work we do, and love to Lend-a-Hand wherever we can, we look forward to making an ongoing difference here in Aruba", says Keisha Williams, General Manager of Diamonds International.

Lend-A-Hand Project

Diamonds International sponsors Young Aruban Artwork Project installed at the Cruise Ship Port. As Diamonds International continues with their multi-million dollar renovation of the Port of Call mall, they are making all efforts to keep up the appearance of the building and mask their construction site. The latest efforts showcase a project that was developed together with our young community. Diamonds International sponsored four schools to create a gallery of artwork, providing a sunny welcome to all visitors entering through the port – and thus masking the area at the back of their building which is under construction.

The brief for the project was to paint a mural that represents Aruba. The children and teachers from Reina Beatrix Basis school, Princes Amalia Basis school, St. Franciscus College and St. Dominicus College did a truly impressive job – including all of the highlights that make Aruba unique, Hooiberg, Cascabel, Shoco, Cave-paintings, Bushi Cactus, Yuwana, Divi Tree and the California Lighthouse to name but a few.

General Manager of Diamonds International, Keisha Williams comments “The gallery looks absolutely wonderful, and truly contributes to the tourist experience of Aruba – We would like to say a big thank you to the young creative talents and their teachers who worked hard on this fantastic project” The Young Aruban Artwork Project has been installed opposite Gate A of the Cruise Ship Port, and is accessible to the public at all times.

Lend-A-Hand ProjectAs the largest jewelry retailer in the Caribbean, Diamonds International is a prominent feature in Caribbean life. The last quarter of a century has seen huge expansion from the company who have received a warm welcome in each island they have branched out to, including Aruba where they have been part of the economy for over 15 years. Diamonds International feels it is their corporate responsibility to give back and support their islands, which is why they set-up a charity organization 'The Lend-A-Hand Projects' to do just that. The Lend-A-Hand Projects is essentially a program established to help community/charity and environmental projects that need a helping hand. They offer their greatest attribute, their workforce, to worthy projects that need a few extra hands to get a job done.

This last Saturday, Diamonds International employees were proud participants in the first Lend-A-Hand Project in Aruba. The DI team donated their time to one of the local playgrounds at Centro di Bario Tanki Lendert to help clean, paint and improve the safety of its grounds. No corner was left untouched as the team worked hard through the day to complete the cleaning of the playground, repainting of the playground toys to bring it back to its former glory.

Other Lend-A-Hand Projects in the Caribbean include, Belize – Queen Street Baptist Primary School in which together they gave eight classrooms a much needed facelift; Grand Cayman – Red Cross, project in which they collaborated with the Red Cross to clean out and organize four crates containing damaged hurricane supplies; Jamaica – Falmouth Public General Hospital, project in which they lended a hand in amuch needed clean up of the hospital; Honduras – Pirates Bay Clean Up, the volunteer team collected garbage and many other items that are harmful to the environment.

Diamonds International will continue with more projects in the Summer when the number of cruiseships reduces again. To follow Diamonds International and their future projects on Facebook, please go to Diamonds International-Aruba.

Aruba Charity Projects: Adopt a Child Program August 09, 2013

Once again this year Diamonds International Aruba’s employees joined forces and collected funds amongst themselves to help out two children in need to help purchase all of their back to school supplies and uniforms.

We were all highly moved to see the big smiles on these children’s faces once they received their backpacks filled with all of their supplies, uniforms, sneakers and their tuitions were all paid in full.

‘Adopt A Child’ is a program founded to help out the children of Aruba who live in poverty and do not have the resources to purchase their back to school supplies and pay for their tution. Every year local companies ‘adopt’ a number of children to help out in the quest to better the future of our children. To a great new school year ahead! BROWSE BELIZE GALLERY
